The Legal Studies Institute of Finance and Tax Law

The Legal Studies Institute of Finance and Tax Law was founded by Prof. Dr. iur. Jörg Manfred Mössner in 1987. From August 2006 until September 2018, Prof. Dr. iur. Heike Jochum was managing director of the Institute and was followed by Prof. Dr. iur. Steffen Lampert in October 2018, who had joined the Institute back in 2011. The Legal Studies Institute of Finance and Tax Law has a strong focus on international and European tax law as well as manifold areas of domestic taxation. It is renowned and connected well beyond the borders of Osnabrück and even Germany. Our professors are active members of IFA, the EATLP and EUCOTAX (European Universities COoperating on Taxes) and lecture in international programs e.g. at the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. The Institute established and contributed to many international research projects including the German-Dutch research center on taxation of cross-border issues together with the University of Tilburg and research on bilateral cooperation as an instrument of harmonization in the field of direct company taxation (BiHACoTax) together with Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
